Another R-comp thread

Has/does anyone auto-x with r-comps on their Yaris. I don't want to hear the story of the guy rolling his Yaris. I want to know from personal experience people that have.

I would like to know what type of tire you ran and your suspension set-up for it.

I know Garm has a set, but hasn't run them yet. I'm thinking about doing it next season. Not sure yet though.

Here are some vids of me in my Yari . The white Yaris (07) has TRD shocks with Tein springs . The blue Yaris (09) has TRD shocks/springs/sway . Both Yari utilize the same wheel/tire combo , which is 16x6.5 +40 SSR Type C wheels in conjunction with 205/45/16 Hoosier A6 tires .

i ran hankook z211 C30 compund 205-50-15 last year. they did very good imo. so much grip, the wheels wouldnt lock up no matter how hard i stood on the brakes (240lb dude). never every felt like it was gonna roll over.

suspension setup started off as out of the box megan coilovers, but now...

Front

Megan Shock Tubes
WRX Koni inserts
450lb Eibach 2.5id Spring
Poly Bushing under the top mount plate
Ford Focus Endlinks

Rear

Ford Focus Koni shocks
Megan Spring Bases
Eibach 500lb 2.5id spring
TRD swaybar

i purchased the megan coilovers used from a guy on this forum. they were good while the lasted but then started leaking and the endlinks that came with the kit were a joke.

the top of the front shock unscrews from the threaded shock tube. pull the guts out and put whatever you want inside. just so happens they fit koni inserts from my wrx quite well. the rear focus shocks bolt right up.

The eibach race springs are the same 2.5" inside diameter as the megan springs, i got them at a swap meet for $1 per spring, the top poly bushing is a left over from a rear differential outrigger bushing kit for my wrx, tool all the slop out of the front mount, that 1/4" that it could move up and down is gone.

Under the right conditions most any car can get on two wheels. Your driver inputs will have the biggest effect on this. Don't get in over your head and you wont have a problem.

Avoid getting the car sideways, and avoid the late brake turn-in off throttle combo, If you are on the gas it is much harder for the car to get up.

I saw this happen first hand, it was awesome.

Shocks can vary +/- 1" in overall length, but must use the OE mounts, and can have a maximum of two adjustments (compression/rebound). I have no idea what his setup would look like based on his post.

His spring change would not be legal.

I know the springs would not be legal but I guess the front struts wouldn't be legal because shock tubes are not on the Yaris from the factory...
