Can I install an amp on a 2010 Stock stereo?

I know that its better to get a new system.. but to be honest I don't mind the one I have. I just want to install a Sub and amp that my brother gave me with the stereo that came with.

If at all possible, are there any wiring diagrams? my brother is a ford mechanic, and hes sort of teaching me the ropes (i am a total newb.) but he cant figure out where to wire the amp into the stereo.. or if its even possible. an amp output or whatever.

we had the whole thing pulled apart today. so its mainly just tips/videos which might explain the wiring part..?

thanks in advance. appreciate the help/patience from you guys.

Buy a sub amp with a high-input, and tap into the speaker wires on the left rear speaker.

Yup that would be the best way if you choose to keep the factory HU. I did that for the first several months until I could afford to bump to a fully qualified aftermarket setup. If you are looking for something that is simple and blends well with the factory HU without a lot of hassle you could go with the SAS Bazooka BTA10250. It puts out solid bass while having an internal amp and wiring harness out of the box with integrated high level inputs plus for a few bucks more you can pick up the remote gain switch for the sub so that you can adjust the bass on the fly right from your driver's seat.

Send a message via MSN to mick.wheelz
also, you can purchase a line level converter which will allow you to use any amp and sub you choose.

eg.

Post Step-by-step instructions

  1. Go to this post: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1768
  2. Click the link to go to etimago's site with the factory repair manual
  3. Click on Audio & Visual System
  4. Go to page AV-16 which has the pin-outs of the connectors.

The remote turnon for the amp is going to be the ACC (D10-3)
The signal wires you want are going to be on D74. You get to pick which ones you use.

To actually hook up an amp, you will need either an amp with high-level inputs, or a line out converter (as stated above).
