Yarris Rush Accelarator Problems

Just bought a 2008 Yarris Rush (38K on clock).

Experiencing problems when changing up into gear (manual). The throttle doesnt "come off quick enough/not responsive enough.

Is this a generic problem with the drive by wire system as opposed to a throttle cable?

Regards
Pete

Yep. Many threads on this board have discussed the issue. It's just the way it's programmed.

Thanks for your prompt response.

UIs there a solution? Can I take it into a dealer & get it reprogramed?

Regards

Peter

The dealer will tell you that's how it is and then basically to pound sand. The rev-hang is there in DBW MT cars to help emissions.

You can however have it reprogrammed aftermarket. It's usually done with a tune after intake/exhaust mods, but I'm sure can be done standalone.

I don't believe any of the aftermarket folks have figured out how to retune the Toyota ECU, actually. There are some hang-on mods that alter input from sensors to it.

Hydra EMS, AEM EMS, etc will let you tune it but the cost of doing so is significant.

If you keep on revving UP as you press on the clutch.. consider letting go the throttle before pressing the clutch...

i mean, it's really a timing issue..

My mustang gt has dbw and before the custom tune it did the same thing. After tune my mpg went up 2-3 mpg, and that's with a v8!
