2011 Chevrolet cruze available 1.4L TURBO engine
I saw one of these driving near my house with manufacture plates. Must have been a GM employee. When I checked Chevy's websight I was surprised to see it was available with a 1.4L Turbo engine. And this is the engine that gives top mileage. Claimed 40mpg highway. I just thought it was intresting that even domestics are starting to use turbos to get better mileage! Lets hope they improve quality on the entire car and not just engine technology. I am a previous C5 Corvette owner and I loved it. But I am also a previous owner of a Cavalier. Not much love for that one.

history repeats itself really...it seems like once a decade or so they are deciding to put out more cars with factory turbo. the biggest issues are those linked to turbos. i can remember when i was checking out purchasing an SRT4 and they wanted an extra 100 bucks a month for 100% warranty that included the turbo otherwise you were out of luck if it died or leaked, etc. i would not doubt it if GM starts to pump out better cars now that they have been in the spotlight for the last few years for screwing so much up.

The Cruze will be a sure winner. It's light years ahead of the archaic Cobalt. GM has finally put true effort into building a compact.
This will be the first non-hybrid compact that achieves a 40 mpg rating. Impressive considering that outside of the Fiesta, no sub-compact even achieves the magic number. The second compact that will do it is the 2012 Focus which makes the Cruze look dull. Toyota and Honda will have to work really hard if they want any chance in competing with the next Focus. |
