OEM rim weight
Does anyone know the weight of the 15 inch OEM steel wheels that come standard on the Yaris?

Nevermind
I found it in another post by searching with Google. I couldn't find it using the YarisWorld search. http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32380 It looks like the standard steelies weigh 16 lbs.
The reason I asked was because I bought some aftermarket steelies and they felt pretty heavy. I weighed them. They weigh 29.6 lbs each. I was too cheap (and poor) to buy cast alloy wheels but I didn't realize that I was buying cast iron. I was trying to decide by weight which rims to use for my summer tires and which to use for my winter tires. The good news is I'll be using these rims with my winter tires and with all this weight I will sink through the snow and be riding on pavement.

Wow! 30 lbs for steelies is crazy. Where did you get them?

Discount Tire Direct. They don't list weight for any of their wheels and it never occurred to me that there could be that much difference between steelies. Then I got them and lifted one. I have gotten 1 set of wheels for my wife's Elantra and 3 sets of tires (summer and winter for Elantra and winters for Yariko) from TireRack but they didn't have any 15 inch steel rims, only 14s, and I already had the 15 winter tires. From now on I'll stick with TireRack.

I got my 2nd two rims today. For some reason they were shipped in two shipments. When I weighed the ones I got today they were 24.9 lbs. Then I reweighed the ones I got on Friday and they weighed 24.9 lbs too. I don't know what's going on with my bathroom scale but my rims lost 4.7 lbs over the weekend. Maybe by the time I put my winter tires on them and put them on the car they will be down to 16 lbs.

Since most bathroom scales have a sweet spot in them, they can be horribly inaccurate. I can fluctuate my weight by 20 pounds by shifting around a little on the scales. There is no way a 15" steelie can weigh close to what you are measuring.

stock steelies are 15x6, and are 16 lbs. I forgot the source, but that's what I saw.

I can tell you that 14" Echo steelies are significantly lighter than 15" Yaris Alloys.
I was shocked when I did the first change-over. Braking is unreal with the lighter set-up. Accelleration, while noticabley stronger, is aided by the gear ratio advantage of the smaller diameter winter tires on the 14's then.
