No. You will need a line out converter to adapt the high level speaker outputs to low level RCAs or you will need an amp that accepts high level inputs.

Yes, that is the correct type of device.

I am not sure what you mean by "take out my radio", but if you mean pull out the radio to connect it, then yes.

I agree. The existing system is simply CRAP. Don't throw good money at bad with aftermarket add ons. You can always keep your factory stuff to replace back in if you sell your car. But why sacrifice good sound in the mean time?

I have a JVC double din head unit that nicely filled the horrendous gap left when the radio went out. The kids love watching movies on boring trips to Home Depot.

Boxed away the radio and paper thin front door speakers. Replaced them with MB Quart components (tweets in the A-pillars), dropped in Alpine mono and 2 channel PDX amps, a 12" Type R Alpine sub in an Obcon box and wow. Just wow.

You sacrifice some space and add weight but if you like your tunes, it's worth the investment.

i had a sub on my stock deck and it was so bad, not worth it and i wasnt happy with it.

if u have to stay with the stock deck just get good new speakers all around and i added some 6x9 in the back too.

i forgot different radio's are available in the yaris, in my experience with the northamerican toyota upgrade deck it wasnt very good. i can just imagine how the stock LE deck is.

I am assuming your existing stock radio does not already have an AUX connection (3.5mm jack), located on the radio itself or near the handbrake.
If it does have the connection, simply connect the headphone out from your MP3 player to the AUX connection (using a standard audio cable with 3.5mm stereo plugs on each end) and then select AUX on your radio.

The only good thing about an FM Modulator for playing MP3s is that it does not require removal of the radio to get the sound from your MP3 player to come through your car speakers.
It works like a mini FM radio station broadcasting a weak signal to your car radio antenna.

That being said, the downside of an FM Modulator is that the sound quality is poor and you may have reception problems if you drive in areas where there are other radio stations broadcasting on frequencies similar to those used by the FM Modulator. I tried one once briefly and returned it the next day.

If you do not have an AUX connection, I would follow everyone else's recommendation and replace the stock radio with an aftermarket one that includes a connection for your MP3 player.
You won't need to spend too much to find something good and your ears will thank you.
