IMO, I don't like it.
The steering wheel looks just like the Honda Fit's. The rear looks ridiculous and too similar to the Versa. Rear chrome accents, hmmmm, what other car has that.... The Versa! That's one of the reasons I didn't buy a Versa, I hate chrome! Why ruin a good thing and put the gauges back by the steering wheel. There was no problem with them to begin with. The shifter, looks just like the Versa's. Where are the 13 glove box's??? Storage people, come on! Sun roof = more money and more weight and hotter car About the only thing I like are the fog lights! Somebody please fire Dezi, Seriously! He's checked out, send him to Nissan! And take your Versa inspired Yaris with you. I'm done. |

"...the exterior showcases the greater appeal of a bolder, more dynamic and elegant design execution." Really?
I posted this previously in another thread: The 2006-2011 Vitz (Yaris HB) had unique character, and with minor tweaks each year could have developed into a serious "cult" car much like the Mini and Bug. IMHO, Toyota has missed a golden opportunity here. Instead, the new 2012 Vitz has become a generic looking small car that will simply blend into the crowd having no real personality of its own. I find the new model totally unappealing. |

I'm not even sure Toyota really wants to sell many Yarises based on the total lack of incentives, advertsing and publicity of any kind. They probably don't make any money to speak of on the model based on it's high Japan build cost structure, weak dollar/yen exchange rate and the 12K transaction price (albiet for a stripper) needed to move them off the lots. I think it's just a place holder in the B segment for them until in their mind the segment grows in the USA warranting investment in a western hemisphere B segment factory which would enable them to compete on a level playing field with the Accent or Versa and Fit. In their defense it remains to be seen if folks in the USA will spend 18K on a Fiesta (or what a Euro spec Yaris would cost here) when they can for very little more get into a C segment car like the Corolla, Elantra or Focus. Time will tell whether Toyota or Ford will be right on this one.
In my opinion it would take 5-6 dollar gas to see them make the investment. |

I believe the key word here is "dynamic"

The more I see the more I like this car.
I feel the interior and front end are vast improvements. The back half of the car, however, not so much. That's where the 2nd gen wins. As much as a majority on this forum continues to criticize it, no doubt, the Yaris will see a big bump in sales when the '12 is released in the US. |

Looking at the back, it feels like a mini cooper s, looks like there will be rear fog at the bumper area?
The sunroof is really large too, extend all the way to the back passenger side but I doubt it can be lifted or slide backwards, it is only a 'roof window' Interior I like it, looks more stylish, definitely improvement from previous gen. If they would add in a few more finish touches in the interior like a chrome trim, different colours of mood leds then that would be the best. The customizable opportunities for this new gen is better with less rounded body shape, whole car just seems to be more sporty. At the end I think a 2DR version would look even better but they are not making any.... |
