Cruise and mileage

those with cruise, chime in on its effects on mileage?

In my blazer, it was good for 3-4mpg, and kept me from driving so fast.

The yaris not seeing drastic differences from city to highway makes me think it may not benefit as much from cruise, but anyone know for sure?

For me it's maybe 1-3mpg on hwy, but is still within range of 40mph

You get a slight benefit from cruise, mainly by the engine NOT having to rev up and down due to you pressing/depressing the gas pedal. 1-3 mpg sounds good to me.

But I rarely have the opportunity to use cruise as the interstates are so packed.

i WANTED cruise b/c in my old car i got a big difference in mpg but i would have had to wait weeks to get a yaris with cruise. so i gave up.

don't miss it. the car is fairly easy to drive the same speed.

The hatch does come with cruise right? I was reading the a,b,c option list on toyota.com and did not see it on the list.

The Yaris Hatchback here in Canada now for the last while has cruise available as an option (but not originally when I purchased my Yaris back in last April/May 2006), which is nice. But its pricey, around $500-600 I think. I'd have to double check. I'm not adding it on for that price, but yeah, it'd be really nice and convenient for me.

I like how it really helps me keep my speed down. I travel enough on the 400 and 404 that's id enjoy having it, and also the benefit it would have on my MPG since i dont speed as often or as bad when I can 'cruise' ;)

Yes the car is easy to keep at a steady pace, mainly because of the electronic throttle, its more forgiving to minor movements.

Really? I thought it was because it accelerates so slowly. I mean if your going sixty and you press the gas down, probalby going to take about 50 minutes before you get to 70 anyway:) so it would be difficulty to accidently accelerate for as long as it would take for the yaris to pick up significant speed i think:

Cruise was not installed on any of the 10(ish) LBs on the lot when I bought mine. From the strippers up to the fully loadeds, none of them had cruise. I had it added before I drove my car off the lot, which added $400(!) to the price, but given the number of times I drive from Memphis to my family's place down in Alabama -- which is about 5 hours of sparsely populated highways -- it was worth it.
