new guy with an offset question...
For 15X7 rims how much offset is necessary to keep the wheels inside the wells to prevent rubbing?
I'd like to get a set of Rota RB's for the Yaris... Is +35 enough? And when you turn the steering wheel lock to lock, do wide wheels rub on the frame? Last edited by tooter; 04-27-2012 at 11:12 AM. |

How low are you planning to go? On stock suspension, 15x7 +35 will work fine with stock tires, 195/55/15's, or 205/50/15's.
But if you are planning to lower, they will rub in the front on the plastic fender liners. |

The rubbing shouldn't be that bad tho even with a drop.

^ Yeah - they will definitely fit nice, a 15x7 +35 is a good size for the Yaris. Just wanted him to be aware that they will rub on the plastic fender liners. At least on the pre-2012 models they would - not so sure on the fender liner design of the 2012.

With stock suspension, 15x7, ET35 won't rub, but will poke up front with 205mm rubber.

Thanks for the good advice guys.
![]() I won't be lowering the car. Just want to put some nicer looking wheels on it. In 1987, I had a silver Nissan with silver 8 spoke wheels and loved them. They were replicas of the old time Panasport racing wheels popular in the 60's and 70's... (not my car) ![]() I was pleasanely suprized to discover that the same style wheels are widely available today! |

Nice. Stick with 195 rubber and you're golden.

I will, Yari.

the Geico pig just came to mind.
That's a nice "classic" wheel design that will never get old. Good taste. Curious to see how it looks on a 2012. |

![]() Here's sdmf's car with exactly the same wheels on it... ![]() None of the new wheel styles are quite like them. Last edited by tooter; 04-30-2012 at 12:43 PM. |

One of the most popular "mag" wheel styles of that time were Crager 5 spokes... ...made famous by Steve McQueen and his Mustang in the movie "Bullitt". ![]() Steve did all of the driving in that movie himself because he was a professional racer. ![]() I don't care much for any of the new wheel designs and am really happy that the old classic "mags" are still being made.

Panasports are a copy of the 60s wheels called Minilite Mag. Which were originally made of magnesium. Originally designed for the Austin Mini-Cooper. Unfortunately, Minilites today dont have the right offset for Japanese imports. |
