^Exactly. In the past I spent a lot of time modifying elevator control systems to allow mobile robots to ride standard elevators. Note the key switch on the top right in the picture. That key switch is the override switch for emergency operation.

it might have been true at one time, but now that is why elevators have keys.

I wish that worked. when i was a engineer at pioneer place mall, i was let down when it didn't work in the business tower :( had to use my key every time, lol.
