Painted Interior Trim body color

Any opinions on this. I did it over 3 days to allow good drying time between coats. I Figured I am about to put some red under the hood might as well as some in the cab as well.

it is easy and dupicolor makes the repair paint colors easy to get, they call the one for the red car Super Red V, just be sure to allow good cure time between coats and installation I had to do it twice for rushing.

If you use duplicolor I strongly advise allowing the exact curing time they propose - smth like 10 minutes between layers and 30 minutes before clear coat

How did you prep the surface -what sandpaper did you use first, second, third?

Any daytime pics? What other interior panels further to paint?

i used 250 to get the texture broke down some, then 600 to prime. once a bout 3 coats of prime, i used 1000 then 4 coats of color then 1000 again and 2 more coats of color, followed up with 3 coats of clear.

Those are from just a few hours ago, it's starting to rain here so it is a little over cast.

not sure what other panels I will paint, I'll give them some more thought before doing it.

plastidip is affordable and awesome. i use it. i plastidipped the moustache on my car and it has stayed on for about 6 months now rain, car wash, power washer.. no problems. the more coats you have the less likely it is to peel off from normal wear and tear. plastidipping your trim interior would be really easy. just be careful when putting all the pieces back together and use a lot of coats! you can really learn a lot from dipyourcar dot com.

compared to duplicolor its totally different. because plastidip is almost like a spray rubber, if you will, and not paint. its completely removable and wont damage the surface you dip. it comes right off!

check it out!

tldr; Plastidip is durable, affordable and awesome. its worth 5 bucks a can to see for yourself.

When you did your trim for the gauges and all, how did you take it out? I wanna customize mine as much as I can and interior to me is a big step towards that goal. Mind PM'ng me some tips?

The trim pieces he painted snap up from the bottom, just grip the bottom of the trim pieces and pull back and up. The only wires you have to worry about are emergency signal lights and passenger air bag lights, so be gentle when you get towards the top.

The only thing is too is that I have a 2011 Yaris, but I'm gonna give it a shot.

One more thing, got any good sites that offer stylish Shift Knobs? seen a few solid ones on ebay and a few other sites but yeah, interior is getting a make over dude.
