Thumbs up G.M. $100 and $50 rebate is back for tires . B./F. discount up to

$140 as told by a employee over the phone . Here are the tire BRANDS and their discounts at G.M. , http://mycertifiedservicerebates.com/Default.aspx , click on START REBATE ONLINE for brand and the discount . The Bridgestone Ecopia 422 and Continental Pro Contact w/ Eco Plus get the $100 off ( $25 off a tire ) . Some G.M. parts centers will match the price if within 50 mile radius . May also have free mount and balance with new tire purchase . Bridgestone / Firestone centers have $70 off when applying for their card or using a current one . I think you're also entitled to another $70 from Bridgestone / Firestone making a savings of $140 ( $35 off per tire ) . 4 tires have to be purchsed for all discounts . Call G.M dealer and B.F. to make sure these apply to your area . Good luck .

May be getting 4 of the Ecopia 422 for a little under $60 each ( $85 - $25.00 ) through G.M. parts . This is before tax. The mount and balance would be free .

What's the deal on the free mount and balance? Is it a coupon or some other special deal? Thanks, Bill C

Coupon on internet at G.M. dealers website . Have to buy 4 tires from them to get free mount and balance . Also get credit from G.M. with the purchase of tires . So , should cover 1st rotation .

They're very quiet and take imperfections in the road quite well . Set at 35 p.s.i.. Some pics .

Gas mileage is up with the 422s' . Eco-Meter is reading little less than 1 m.p.g. than the calculated gas mileage . So could be 42+ m.p.g.. Set at 95 , will likely reset to 96 . Tires set @ 36 . The trip was quite hilly and gusts of wind up to 30 m.p.h.. Temps in upper 40s and 2 of us . There's about 800 miles on them , probably still breaking in . Couple thousand miles should do the trick .

Good info. It seems not all these low friction tires actually are low friction. It would be nice to see you get consistent better mileage with these tires, so we know of at least 1 option that really is better.

Refilled with 10.01 gallons of SUNOCO 93 w/E10 at $3.70 . Got 40.269 miles calculated . A bit over 1,000 mis. on the tires and at 35 p.s.i.. Was told this region should have summer blend gas by 1st week of MAY . Hopefully will see incease in F.E.. This tank included many steep hills , gusty winds , temps in low 30s' in morning , and up to 2 > 3 people + groceries . Other 1/2 had it for 3 days to get to work . Remember this is an auto , so not so shabby . $240+ tax is good price if not that dramatic of F.E. increase over the Continental w/ Eco Plus . The 422s' seem to wear better . Time will tell .

I second this question? Your car will adapt to the 93 octane and spray more of it to get the same burn as 87 octane. Given what you've done to get better mileage, I don't understand why you would run higher octane "premium" gas. If you had some way of watching your fuel trims between the two you would see why we are concerned. Run 87, trust us on this!

We tell noob Prius drivers to avoid the 93 because it hurts the mpg's.

Why not ? Don't use it all that often and like to experiment . Thanks for your input . You'll be happy to know we refilled with SUNOCO 87 w/E10 ( 9.854 gals. , 1 blinking bar ) . Got 41.35 using the 93 w/E10 . Eco-Meter is showing 43.8 at 62.7 miles on fill of 87 . Was at 45.2 before some stop and go driving . E.M is reading around .5 lower than the calculated gas mileage , set at 95 , plan to leave it for now . Expect the gas mileage to drop to 41 tomorrow due to grocery shopping , some steep hills , and weight of 3 people . The 422s' have 1,500 miles on them . Tires at 35.5 > 36 .

The ECO went down to 41 as thought . It's off by .5 , so could be 41.4 or slightly higher . Three of us with about 100 lbs. of groceries on way back . Have to contend with some steep hills . No getting around those since we're in a valley . Hit plenty of red lights and stop signs . Don't really pamper it , normal driving . Do pulse and glide .
