Yaris 1.4D behaving like KIT out of Knight Rider

Hi All,

I'm a Yaris owner since 2002 and my car has never had any major issues or problems and has only done 70K.

A couple of months ago and today it did this weird thing and I know somethings wrong but not sure what and wondered if anyone could help.

Firstly the engine light comes on and the revs increase a little. The accelerator stops working however the car accelorates by itself as I change through the gears:

1ST 0-9 MPH
2ND 10-14 MPH
3RD 15-20 MPH
4TH 21-29 MPH
5TH 30+ MPH

Its really weird as its only have twice now and corrected its self after 1st time, at work so its parked having a breather but not what will happen at end of day.

Any help/guidance much appreciated.
