tte lowering springs

I purchased some used tte lowering springs that I pretend install soon on my 2009 yaris.

As they are used I noticed that the paint on the bottom of the front springs is a bit eaten. I saw that a little weird but then I found out that the yaris doesn't use any kind of rubber or plastic between the springs and the struts. The spring sits in the strut... metal to metal.

For those who use lowering springs, do you guys put something in between or just leave it like the oem setup... metal with metal?

I was thinking on using some black heat shrink tubing...
