I really can't tell what you are trying to draw our attention to.
Your profile indicates United States so I'd assume engine is 1.5l 1NZ-FE.

Sorry for the lack of information. Engine in the picture is from Japan as the original engine took a shit. The Jdm engine didn’t come with anything but the block and head. The head is different than the original US engine it originally came with so I’m trying to gather parts to make it work.Both Engine blocks say 1NZ

Best guess, looks like a water cooled EGR valve.

I saw a picture of a Prius engine that has it, maybe part of the Atkinson cycle engines.
