Q: How is a completely stripped Yaris LB wired for sound?

Hi all,

I am considering one of two options. A LB with the convenience package and one without. Here's my question.

If I go with no options at all (i.e. not even the convenience package) then what does Toyota still provide as far as the audio system goes? Does the car still have speakers and everything is wired up and ready to go but it just doesn't have a head unit?

The Toyota documentation states that it has an "prep" package if it's stripped but I didn't see any other info.

My thinking is that if I plan on putting in a new head unit then the convenience package only get's me 15" steelies instead of 14" steelies so there isn't much point in bothering. That being said, I don't want to buy a no option LB only to find out that when I get it there are no speakers in it or (even worse) there is no wiring already run.

My hope is that if I buy a no option LB that when I get it I'll look where the head unit goes and see the normal wiring harness sitting there.

Can someone who bought a no option LB tell me what the deal is? My guess is that all the speakers are installed and everything is wired ready to go; just no head unit.

Thank you in advance.

It comes with shitty speakers and all the wires required to mount your after market radio. Thats how I bought my Yaris and I'm happy with it. You can replace the stock speakers with 6.5" all around

Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear. I had read that the stock speakers were really bad too so I was planning to replace them as well as the head unit. With the $640+ I would have spent on the convenience package I can get a really nice head unit and decent speakers. I just didn't want to deal with trying to run wiring.

A stripped down LB sounds like the way to go for me then. Now I just have to wait for the 08's to start showing up and find a stripped one in polar white. A side benefit of grabbing a stripped LB should be that the purchase price will only be a few hundred over true dealer invoice so price negotiation should be easier since there isn't anything extra padding the price.

Thanks again.
