The guy that did the DIY did, obviously. As far as I know he hasn't had any problems with it.

I'm not concerned of the headlights when the ignition is turned off, but I am concerned of turning the headlights off on a sunny day and turn them on when at dark.

On my Mazda Protege 2002, I only need to lift a click on the handbrake and I can drive without headlights when I want.

Is that possible with a Yaris ?

Yep, just disable them: DISABLED DayTime Running Lights How To- 2007 Yaris!

I am the one who documented the DIY. I have not had an issue since I did the mod, back when I posted it.

Did it about 6 months after I had the car. Not a problem at all.

I will say though in canada it is a law you must havs drl's. At least I am almost positive I have read canadian members saying that.

Ok great for deleting the DRLs...

but will I need to reconnect the DRL relay if I want to drive at dark ???

I need to understand before doing the surgery that if I remove the DRL relay, I will be able to do something other than reconnect the relay to drive by night.

Thanks !

No, just turn your lights on when it's dark out!

All you'd be doing is disabling the daytime running lights, everything else would be like usual, if you want your lights on, turn them on.

You bet we do. Best way to attract attention from cops that I know of - an obvious lighting violation on a late model car. Almost as good as burning donuts in the police station parking lot.
