I wonder if changing the intake manifold gasket to a non-metal material would help? More metal (compared to the plastic manifold) could translate to some heat soak?

I do believe that it would...
I did the dyno runs without it and the manifold was blazing hot. That big one inch thick slab of aluminium "heatsink" laying across the intake ports transfers engine heat like crazy. I'm going to get longer bolts to put the insulating gasket on.
