Not necessarily, a large TB and upgraded manifold will lean out the mixture. I'm sure the maf will see more air coming in and increase the fuel delivery but if the stock injectors can't pump anymore, then the 1zz should meet those needs. More air + more fuel = more explosions = more power.

Not always. I've dyno-tuned two Hondas I've owned in the past with VAFCs and wide-band, both with many bolt-on mods and larger throttle bodies. Naturally aspirated, with stock injectors, EVERY TIME I made power by reducing the fuel injector pulse from stock. You'd be surprised what the stock injectors are capable of, every time I've put a car on a dyno with a wide-band o2, the car was running rich and I ended up taking away fuel to make power. In the case of my H22A-swapped Civic, I made 9 hp and 10 tq at the wheels with just a VAFC and some dyno time. The fuel and air mixtures need to be in balance, too much of either one isn't a good thing.
More air + balanced fuel = more power More air + too much fuel = less power, lower mpg |
