Summer wheels on too early = jinx every time!

So my wheels are in a shed behind the house somewhere. With this winter, and that roof, no wonder they're buried.

I will not complain about this up & down weather here anymore! I watch the weather in other areas and know they are still having snow, but when you see it in an actual picture, it really hits home. I guess it's been a nasty Winter for everybody in Canada & the US...We're 75 Saturday, Sunday it's 55. Tuesday it's supposed to be 40 degrees, we're tired of it, too, 'cause it's usually near 78 or so everyday now. And DON'T say I'm whining... I don't frequent Grand Cayman Island anymore!! It's too cold here for March 23!

I would think once you leave that Chicago (+ a few other locations) Winter weather it would be hard to move back. I know two SF Bay Area families who are from Chicago. One (multiple households) will probably never leave the Bay Area. If they did, one household might for the NW suburbs of Phoenix. The other Chicago family (kids grown) split their time between the Bay Area, Rancho Mirage, Scottsdale, and Florida (warm weather locales), and will never go back to Chicago during the winter. Re another location, a family member was visiting them in Rancho Mirage (from the western suburbs of Pittsburgh PA) and said 'this is my dream location, I'm moving here now' (she was already retired)....and she did.

Yes, Once you get used to a warmer climate, I don't think you'll want to go back. Living on Capitol Hill in DC (USDA Zone 7) from 2000-2010 was a great weather change for us from Chicago (Zone 5) Moved to the Country in 2010 and it's an even warmer climate here. We wanted the 4 seasons still - Summer is s t r e t c h e d out here...it's still in the 80s in October & November usually...PLUS, all the cars around here are pretty mint rust-wise. Had a LOT of good times in Chicago, you just get used to the long winter and cold and snow I guess. Spoiled here, Don't want anything to do with it anymore.
The Yaris has stayed spotless this Winter...if it rains, I pull back in front of the garage door, spray it down with the hose, shammy it off & pull it in the garage. The next day I spray wax it and it's always perfect, I Love IT!

The only really cold place in the U.S. I could live is the Reno, NV Metro Area. You can take a bus from one of the casinos to ski for the day...so you don't have to worry about driving. Most of my family is only 200-300 miles away, and there is no state income tax. Re cold places outside the U.S. (that I've been to), I could handle (but not long, long term) either Copenhagen (my best friend, an American, lives there) or Oslo (I have relatives (married into our family) there, and could take a train to ski at Geilo). If I ever do move though, it would probably be to Pinellas County in Florida (probably Palm Harbor....it's unincorporated, great air quality, great beaches, low crime, big mix re RE prices, lower property tax rate, largely already developed, no state income tax, skiing over 200 miles closer than skiing is from here,.....and (it's my understanding that) Florida doesn't require a motorcycle endorsement on your license if under 50cc....so you can get around the traffic on a Honda Ruckus or a Honda Metropolitan).
