Right - That's what popped the original fusible link that was blown.
I would triple check and just in case replace the ALT-S 7.5A fuse and the 7.5A MET fuse in the under-dash fuse panel. After checking those, measure the voltage on the small pink wire connected to the alternator. If you see 0 volts on that wire, then you definitely damaged the internals of the alternator.
