I don't disagree with your statement regarding keeping the Yaris' mileage lower then the Prius to keep the profits high for Yota. That being said I disaree that the above cars you mentioned get better mileage than the Yaris. There is a very big difference between the mileage rating on the window in the show room and the real world numbers. The Yaris is one of the few cars that you can realistically get much better then the claimed numbers. Likely has to do with what you stated making it look the the hybrids are much better on fuel.

Kia, Ford, Honda etc all publish unrealistic numbers to make sales on those cars and others.
