ignition keyring light

Wondering if anyone has added a ignition keyring light?

I'm getting old..Can't see in the dark

I did a search here and nothing.

I found one thread on Scionlife for a XA/XB, being a toyota product. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=81354

Thanks

Hi guys just so you know , this will not fit the yaris if you have
factory keyless entry as there is a start disable module in this area .
picks up trasnponder signal from the key.

Can you confirm this will fit a U.S. sedan?
and is this tied into the dome light with instructions?
I dont believe U.S. model has what 1NZyaris1 is talking about.

Thanks

Bummer. Was just looking at it at the Micro Image online store today, but my '09 has factory keyless entry.

i'm not sure if all US 09 have immobilizer (chip in the key). but if you do, then you should have a red light flashing by the windshield. (you'd see it from outside).

If not, then the ring will fit your yaris.

note: all new cars sold in CANADA have an immobilizer. it is required by law.

Yeah, I do have that red LED on the driver side end of the defroster vent right below the windshield.

Shucks, our HB has key less entry. Guess, this kills my idea of installing one.
Thanks for the heads up anyway, 1NZYaris1; saves me the trouble of returning the part.

Yeh i know that feeling , i bought one, and when it turned up it looked like
it had been run over , broken into about 6 peices ,so i super glued it back togeather just to try it , fitted great it even lite up okay but i had to
remove the factory part from the barrel hense the car would not start.
as the inner ring looks like it gets it's earth from the ing barrel.

re read my post above, the problem is NOT the keyless entry.

all new cars sold in Canada since 08 have an immobilizer, regardless you have keyless entry or not.
even then 9999$ hyundai accent have an immobilizer.

Thanks for all the great info guys, I will post the warnings withe the product description.

I'm still not clear though, why you couldn't just wire it to the dome light wiring? I'm reading that "it won't work because", but I don't understand completely. Will it just not fit?

Well, it looks like there is already a ring at the ignition. so you can't fit a 2nd ring on top of that.

see pic above.

My '09 LB has a transparent plastic ring where this ignition key light would go. Couldn't we just remove that and pop this ignition light in place of that transparent one I have? Or is the keyless entry still going to prevent that?

You don't need an ignition keyring light. Just above the rear view mirror are two lights. One will shine right on the ignition keyring when activated.

Of course we don't need an ignition key light. Who told you we needed one?
