I use Pennzoil or valvoline in both my cars with oem for the yaris but puralator pure one for the 08crv, since the oem new Honda filters are made by fram. I have read alot of bad stuff on Fram for a while and saw cut filters of a few different brands and fram did look inferior. But what really did it was my neighbor uses fram or motorcraft and about 4 months ago his fram filter failed (seems to have come apart from the inside) and oil spilled everywhere. When he opened the the filter it looked like just a cup just filled with parts. There is a web site called bobistheoilguy.com which cover all this stuff in detail.

Maybe Fram has or is starting to get serious and up their game a bit...this cut-away doesn't look inferior, in fact it looks better than most, and same goes for their P/N for the Scion xD motor; that one looked as good as, maybe even a little better than OEM and WIX, as far as construction was concerned.
