No chip swap, but again this one did have a part number that I've only seen on this TB (#22030-0D030). Yesterday it felt like the ECU finally learned the new TB. Idle is just about normal, and even the warm up idle isn't as high as before, and it settles down quicker. Didn't even adjust the idle screw.
So maybe the secret is the part number? Either way my stock one isn't going back on in the foreseeable future. |

Great feedback Astroman. I'm heading to a salvage yard this evening to see what new toys I can find :)

im not sure the throttle body actually nets whp or just better throttle repsonse. the throttle plate is about 25% bigger, so essentially when you're at half throttle its letting in the same air as the stock throttle body lets in at about 63% throttle.
the inlet to the intake manifold is pretty tight to the 1.75" stock throttle body. i also have to say that im pretty happy with my resonator-back exhaust at the moment. id worry that without a supercharger or turbo, any bigger than 2" you'd lose a lot of bottom-end power (actually i feel like i lost some grunt with the addition of the dc header last month)

Stock TB is 2", 1ZZ TB is 2.5". NO loss of bottom end, more power is going to the wheels as the motor runs like a raped ape now.
Will deffinetly be getting a dyno done this summer when the custom header-back exhaust is done. ![]() I will take some pics today if I can, video too |

Is the 1zzfe throttle body a direct fit to the stock intake manifold? Any modifications to it? Thanks....

My bolt-on mods so far have reduced my 1/4 mile time by 2 sec so they aren't shit. I'm not going turbo as I know the reliability of such a setup, and I simply cannot take the risk with my daily driver I still owe almost $8k on. (See my fine chrysler engineering thread posted a few years ago, my Lebaron would have ate garm's yaris for lunch at the 1/4 mile, but I enjoy driving the yaris more). These mods aren't worthless on N/A, they do help, and the TB has helped even more. There is something to gain with what I've planned, and eventually a supercharger will be on there so this won't all be for "nothing". I drive a lot, and with my suspension and engine modifications I've greatly increased the fun factor. To put it simply the TB mod worked great, and netting very real gains which weren't just noticed by myself. My car isn't done, more mods are comming.

It's a direct fit, I didn't need to modify anything. If the car runs like crap and throws a CEL then you'd need to swap the chip on the TB. I was lucky, it bolted on and worked.

I did buy mine from a member, fuctionspec. I don't know if he moved the coolant line or not. I know he didn't adjust the idle or swap the chip.

Well if a supercharger is in the future, then I take back my comment about not getting a headerback exhaust. However, I wouldn't get it until after you have the S/C on or sometime soon before you put the S/C on. You wouldn't want to be driving around with 2.25" headerback exhaust and not have the S/C on. You will have no torque AT ALL! hehe
