Hood pins! - Toyota Yaris Forums

Jason inspired me (thanks for the pics sir), so I tackled hood pins (thanks for the help JR!), hacking up my favorite hood to do it. I removed all the hood latch parts from the frame, and the "catch" from under the hood. A little cleaning up to do but they work perfectly.

Once you get past drilling the first hole it gets easier.

I would have thought you'd be sporting the carbon set

haha, good point. Except I think Braille uses real carbon?

I could NOT get those pins to fit until I bent the brackets about 10 degrees. I think my hood must have a little more angle than yours.

I may have forgotten to mention, but it is in the instructions, you notch out between the side and bottom hole to get the pin to line up.

Hard to see in this image, but the small piece of plastic that separates the front side and the bottom hole has been removed, to allow the pin to enter strait.

Take one apart. We had the "6lb" carbon unit in a past project car, the "carbon" case added 1lb to the 6lb battery. Lots of plastic and clear coat hiding the standard Braille case.

There are not to many parts out there that I would consider real carbon... Almost all of it is one tiny layer over a fiberglass or plastic base.

The real stuff is so expensive.

They are durable to... Both held strong during this hit, and were transferred over to the replacement hood.

). The kit comes with directions? oops.

I considered doing that and chickened out. The slightly angled brackets worked out ok.

when i saw 'hood pins' i came in to make fun.....but dam. that's freakin awesome.

very clean, neat install, nothing like the big goofy chrome rings with pins and goofy key rings.

those are some hood pins i'd actually use. i wouldnt mind using. from a 100hp car to a supercharged, 10-second street car to a 8 second strip only car.
