TRD rear sway bar installed
(One more review)
Background: completely stock suspension (struts + springs). TRD rear sway bar installed (bought from TRDsparks) Impressions: nice thing, definitely can feel its presence. Car became a bit sharper. Like this thing a lot. The thing is firm and sturdy - played with it a little before installation (I am kinda strong 215 lbs guy). Overall a great mod for 150 bucks. Installation is very straightforward and easy. Also liked the trdsparks customer service - guys seem to be busting their asses (in a good sense). Last edited by TOLMACH; 06-05-2012 at 02:40 AM. |

I'm totally satisfied with mine as well. It tucks neatly up into the framework...
![]() ![]() It's one of the best bang for the buck mods for a Yaris. |

I have one sitting in the shed, waiting for the rest of the suspension parts to show up before I put it on...

My UR 23mm bar has been ordered just wiating for it to arrive. I would have gone TRD, but I plan to Auto-X the Yaris and wanted the larger bar, hopefully decrease the understeer. Looks good by the way!!
PS: Sparks Toyota (TRD Sparks) is less than an hour from my house, so I do plan on getting some TRD and stock parts from them! racerb

I ended up getting the TRD but for the same reason: if you put on the TRD, it counts as a port option for SCCA AutoX--leaving you the option of adding a larger front bar. The larger bar, of course, will be coming from those beautiful folks at MI.

Not sure yet, but having a larger front bar has never been an issue on any of my previous FWD Auto-X and/or Road Race machines. Having the biggest rear bar I could find made the biggest difference, in fact the last car I built (Nissan) we removed the front bar completely. No more understeer and the LSD actually did it's job much better, with less camber needed!!

Thank you for the orders gents! We really appreciate the business and these cars are fun to drive when the suspension is modified! I have an 06 xB with highly modified suspension and have a blast everyday driving it.

^ Sparks, you should become a vendor again, this market is clearly still viable for you!

RacerB, I know you mentioned this before in the autocross threads, but were you planning to stay in HS or go to STF.. or are you doing NASA events, which are totally different? Sorry to get off topic OP, looks great. What are your future plans with this car?

I'm running the trd bar and would probably go to a bigger bar if I could do it over.
To add to this I pulled my front bar off last weekend to get an idea of how the car behaved with it missing, and it wasn't doom and gloom like I expected plus my times were something in the range of 2 seconds faster on a 60 second course this is also with running -.8 camber vs the normal -2.7 I usually run. Going over my data I definitely lost lateral traction something like 0.05g but I was able to get on the gas so much earlier that the slight loss in lateral traction didn't matter. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone unless they were running much stiffer springs since body roll increased dramatically. Also I was having problems with rubbing as well as the car became quite a bit more loose and would oversteer on trail braking which is good for me Last edited by xnamerxx; 06-05-2012 at 05:10 PM. |

Closet car I can think of that I've raced to the Yaris, was my '74 Civic 1200, short wheelbase, FWD, and slightly tall for it's length. But we made that car work even with limited after market at the time and was one kick-ass little race car.
