You don't watch enough Top Gear. In Great Britain you can tell when a car was made by the registration plate. In his case a 59 plate designates a Sept 2009 to Feb 2010 date.

I would definitely want to see more data as to why the shop believes that a car that new needs the timing chain replaced.
