Got my coilovers today, what's up with Megans rear spring perches?

Hey all,

if you look at the bottom of the spring perches on the tein coilovers there is a nut that secures the rear spring perches to the beam, on the megans there is no such way to secure it, is it just supposed to sit in the beam, that's it? Does it rely on spring preload to keep the spring in the car? Looks a little sketchy

Yes sir it just sits there. Just like the stock springs just sit straight on the perches. The weight of the car will keep them in place.

looks so nice and clean just flip it for install lol

after you're done installing, if you still want shorter stiffer springs lmk first. I have the 170mm/7kg that I don't really need anymore since I am picking up a few shorter ones.

Deathbeard: How did you set it up. Do you do the setting before you install or install it and then adjust it. Thanks!

If you go without the perches, I suggest investing in some thick cable ties. I use very large ones on the bottom of the springs to hold them in the perches( two on each spring). Fortunately, there are holes in the bottom of the perch, and the ties work perfect there.

If you are going for perfect fitment, then you may never finish making adjustments lol. I still make fine tuning adjustments almost weekly. Its like you are always chasing that perfect setting. If you are using them for a moderate drop and performance then I would set them, install them and let them settle, and then make your final adjustments.

If using the standard 190/3 springs you don't need the zipties as much. The soft rate allows the chassis to hold the spring in place. For stiffer springs absolutely I would zip tie them but I've only ever done so on top. The bottom is so tight it like locks in place.

1.5 is right, the weight of the car and the shocks prevent the spring from coming out.
