Another Tanabe Medallion Exhaust Install
OK. So I think this install has been covered many times. But, here is what I accomplished today and well, being a newbie, I just want to check with others who have more experience than me that I didn't mess anything up. The only concern I have with the install is the connection to the mid-pipe. The connection is holding, but it looks like it has too much gap between. Let me know please, if I need to fix anything!!!! Pics are: (1) Tanabe exhaust out of the box, (2) end of mid-pipe without install, (3) connection of tanabe and mid-pipe, (4) back shot of the new exhaust.

Looks perfect to me.
The ball gasket keeps the plates slightly apart so they are free to absorb movement. Those Tanabe's look like pieces of jewelery. Make a video of the sound... it's just like music.

Looks beautiful. I have that one and love it too. The fact the muffler can sits vertical keeps the inside noise down a lot. If you want a nice exhaust that's not gonna upset the wife, this is it. Buy from Garm, he won't screw you.

Garm runs micro image , a company that sells performance parts for the Yaris. He's on this forum all the time..

^ Yep. I am. That would be me.
Hey OP, I don't *think* the exhaust uses a donut. Did it come with one? That gasket goes at the other end, where the header mates with the midpipe. I'm pretty sure the axle-back just bolts up directly. @ tooter: not really any need for articulation at the rear joint.

Hey Garm,
![]() If it wasn't meant to absorb motion it would have simply been two flat plates with no springs on the bolts like this... They wouldn't add the extra expense of a spring tensioned ball joint if it didn't serve a purpose even if it was just to damp the transmission of vibration from one section to the next. |

Exhaust gaskets melt slightly when they encounter heat. The spring bolts are for drawing the two sections together as the gasket melts to create a tight seal.

IS that the Touring muffler or the Concept G? The only reason I ask I am thinking about getting the Touring or the Megan racing muffler. The problem I have with the Megan racing though it looks huge under the car with the pics I seen. The Touring muffler appears smaller and is seen less. I am wondering if that is true. Thanks for the info.
P.S The Concept G looks huge with the pics I seen too. So I think that is the Touring, because it looks good... |

The one pictured in the OP is a Touring.
