How you accelerate from lights makes a big difference too. Try to accelerate gradually. (stay below 3K RPM)

If I see the coming traffic light is red, I will slow down and coast to save gas, because sometimes I can avoid starting from a dead stop (0 mph). Saves on brake pads wear too.

The highway speed limit here are 55 MPH, so most of the times, I go 62 MPH to save gas.
