The choice was obvious for me here, 5yrs warranty, cheap insurance, cheap servicing, one of the closest dealers to my home other than Peugeot etc etc. A lot of the car reviews these days are becoming very peripheral, they want the car to have a sporty handling, power engines, and yet, >50mpg efficiency, comfy and quiet ride with extra leg room at the back, with a 10inch ipad stuck on the dash which controls everything? What a joke! Anyway, I am still enjoying my new car. |

I have to agree with you on the Vita-mix. Great machine. I bought mine via the Certified Reconditioned program. I bought the Professional Series 500 model and the thing looks brand new and functions as such. From what I understand, the Reconditioned program resells Vita-mix blenders that have been returned within the risk free in-home 30 day trial, or blenders that have been used via demonstrations at Costco, or what not. They cannot resell these blenders as new. So, I saved a couple hundred dollars by going with the Reconditioned program for a blender that is essentially new with a 5 year warranty. The fact that CR would rank the Ninja alongside a Vita-mix blender tells me all I need to know about CR. I've used Ninja, Blendtec, and Vita-mix. Vita-mix blenders are hands down the best blenders I've used.

Consumer Reports product reviews have always been based on what the market wants or expects at a given point in time. If a reviewed product has the features the public wants at a price point which gives the perception of value for the money, then it is highly rated. After all, the bulk of the consuming public makes decisions based on a combination of heart and wallet.
The only valid CR publications imo are the reliability reports. This is were the rubber hits the road with hard data, not the subjectivity of a handful of testers and analysts. (waits for the next CR thread to start up so can read all the same old, same old on here again...)
