^^^ The few "known issues" with 06-08 models are relatively rare and rather insignificant. I drove my 2007 until almost 100K miles with no mechanical issues whatsoever... which is most common among all Yaris owners. However, I did have some clear coat issues on the roof last year before I sold it.

Find an early model with good paint and get it thoroughly checked out at your local Toyota dealership. If it comes back with a clean report, you should be good to go.
