So what went wrong? Do you know what the CEL code was?
Please tell me step-by-step how you installed the 1zz TB so we can figure out what went wrong. I've been running mine without fault for a few months now...there's got to be something simple that can be fixed and will clear up the whole problem. And eii, if you want to go for a ride in a yaris with the 1zz tb install that was done correctly, PM me. Last edited by jkuchta; 05-16-2009 at 07:45 PM. |

. I based my install on the guide post you made earlier in this thread (thanks btw) so I'm sure I did it correct. I just get that < 1 minute 2.5k-ish cold idle start. Other than that it works great, I was just wondering what happened to demon. I just did the coolant bypass this morning, its more responsive and I definitely feel some more power. Cool stuff

Bummer...
Do you know what the code for the CEL you were getting was? It may provide some clues as to what caused your problem. |

Guys,
I've been following this mod for a while now, If I'm correct the newer yaris models have electronically controlled TB. Well, I looked under my hood and see sort of like a cable running from the pedal to the TB, I can rev my engine by turning this swivel. ![]()

I'm not 100% positive on this but the scion xa/xb owners have done a swap with an older 1zz throttle body which is drive by cable like yours. check the forums @ scionlife.com you should be able to dig up more info.

The chip swap was working fine for me... no CEL or oscillation... until I had to disconnect the battery to swap the steering wheel. Once I reconnected, oscillation & CELs galore.

What codes are showing up?
Just saying you have a CEL is kind of worthless unless we know what the code is. It could be just a case of needing to adjust the idle set screw, or a number of other things. |
