Here's the throttle body adapter...

The camera flash made the intake runners show up inside the manifold. I think this manifold has a distinct design advantage in that all 4 of intake ports of the runners are in direct line with the axis of the throttle body bore, like a backwards flowing exhaust header.

It turned out beautifully...

...and was quite a challenge for them to design a smooth transition from the 3 bolt manifold to the 4 stud throttle body without any of the 4 studs conflicting with the 3 hex bolts, while keeping the attitude of the rotationally sensitive gasket consistent with the throttle body's butterfly.

That is a PRETTY piece of work. I would make an extra one to have on my desk.

Can I sleep with it before you install it?

Thanks, Garm... but I can't take any credit for it as I know absolutely nothing about the manufacturing process. I only laid out the basic idea and let the guys decide how to implement a design in the best manner they saw fit.

Not sure what to do just yet. I might just have it glass beaded to a low metallic luster. The old manifold is really convoluted and has a lot of surface imperfections in it, and would be a real challenge to polish.

Have it ceramic coated. Moving from the plastic to aluminum intake has the potential to raise your intake temp, coating it would help keep all the hot air from the rad from cooking it.

Lots of finish options: http://www.jet-hot.com/

I know... the machined parts are so stunningly beautiful it just makes the contrast to the old junkyard manifold look even worse. Glass beading should unify the surfaces. However, I may not glass bead the throttle body adaptor because it's so nice looking just the way it is.

Here's some pics of the new flange for the intake manifold...

The manifold needed a name... so I figured what the heck, I'll call it a tooter!

Since the CNC machine did not make undercuts, the port was scribed and I'll simply file it by hand down to the mark to fit. This completely resolved the port matching issue.

I have absolutely no idea how all of this will shake out, because I still don't even know how well the manifold will work. The fun is in finding out.

The manifold needed a name so I just used "tooter".

The CNC machine is not set up to generate lettering fonts, so I designed the letters to be a simple mechanical combination of six evenly spaced circles and straight vertical and horizontal lines... and am totally pleased with the results.
