Am running on 17x7 +40 wheels with 205/40R-17 tires. Car is lowered with Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Also installed a 10mm H&R spacer on the rear wheels. Absolutely no rubbing issues.

You shouldn't have any rubbing issues with 195/50x16 tires on +43 offset;otherwise get the +45 offset if you want to run on 205s to be on the safe side.

FYI, I believe stock offset is +45 (at least on the 15" steel wheels).

For everyday driving, you'd probably be hard pressed to notice the difference between a 195 and 205 tire. If you're concerned about the rubbing, go with the 195.

I myself am running 17x7 42mm wheels with 205/40 tires with no rubbing when I've bottomed out or doing full u-turns. I've read a lot of post here with users claiming to have no rubbing with 42mm offset wheels. Even people running bigger tire sizes then the one you're considering. Some post mention rubbing, but most of them dont have issues from what I've read.

The tread on an A048 195 tire puts more rubber to the ground than my BF Goodrich 205's in the same height series. Look at the shape of the sidewall -- definitely differences to be found between brands.

although if comparing similar types of tires you can have a good gauge.

A048s vs R888s would be a good comparison.

RE760Sports vs BFG KDW2s

etc.

looking into measured section and tread width on a given wheel width tells a lot more then the sidewall #s.

a little article on the topic.

just to show the differences. And no you can't run that size tire on a yaris.

The fact is that 205mm tyres, for example, actually differ in width by brand and model; all 205mm tyres are not created equal.

Wheel offsets are not always entirely accurate, as well.

Plus, the car itself is built within acceptable design tolerances, so not only does each car differ, but the same car can differ from right side to left side.

EDIT: These variables along with the fact that the Yaris is already pretty tight when it comes to proper wheel/tyre fitment... and you've got a rather fussy little car.

I noticed this when compairing my falken ziex 912s to other pictures of tires that were the same size. My 912s are not as wide and I suppose that helps prevent rubbing.

looks like we'll be running rota circuit-10's, 16x7, +et45mm. I really want 205 width tires, because any narrower just looks so narrow! Looks like BBS has some good high offset wheels, but they're so damn expensive. I have some 18x7.5 BBS wheels on my IS300, and they're +50mm offset. Definitely not rubbing with those! I wish they were wider though. I could have easily fit a 8" in the front, and a 9" in the back with that offset. I'm running 225 front and back, but i could have done 235front, 245rear =/
