so ignore these wires?

and use the other red wire that has a loop connector at the end... the one that looks like it goes to the positive battery?

cut that and attach it to ray's wire kit?

This is what I did

The first image shows the balast/two wires that come from the fog light kit. A white connector, and a black wire. The black wire gets grounded, since the cable is long enough, I grounded it right to the negative of the car battery.

Now, the same picture shows the red wire that splice sinto two, with an extra male end and copper fitting, and relay. The relay you already installed so I will skip that. The white end on the red wire is to be cut. And then with some bare wire, install the new copper fitting, and once thats installed, put it into the new male white connector. Now that new connector on the red cable can connect to the white end that comes from the fog light kit(the one being held by my hand).

And the other end of the red wire(the two already fitted wires), these get plugged into the fuse box. No other cutting or splicing required. I literally removed the plastic cover on the side, and slipped up the two red wires along with the cars other wires, and connected it into the two slots you ALREADY used.

Now, this is the confusing part. The big tangle mess of cables that also has a relay attached, I ended up throwing out most of it. Only the green connector which goes into the fog light switch is what you need, plus all the wire attached to it(trust me you need it all and some most likely) So I ended up cutting everything else off, including all other ends. I was left with the three wires and that plug, maybe 3 feet long. Once plugged into the fog light switch, the black I ASSUME is ground, the red gets plugged into the steering column harness as you already did, and the yellow I DON'T KNOW!!

I maybe connected this wrong, but as long as the red is connected to the harness on top, and the yellow is NOT used, the fogs will work when the switch is pressed, the problem is the switch does not light up when the car lights are on unless it is pressed to turn on the fog lights. Maybe this was the way it was suppose to be? But now when its pressed 12volts goes down the yellow wire thats hanging.

Good luck, but I so far have not received any other help myself as too why It does not light up when it should(hence why they said to connect the yellow wire to the dimmer switch, yet this causes the whole thing not to work)

If you really need, I will take a video and post it for you explaining it. While of course showing you the stuff around the car. PM me or post.

And please Garm or anyone please tell me why I cant get the fog light switch to light up when I turn on my lights, unless I turn the fog lights on themselves? And why it is that when I connect that wire to where it is "suppose" to go, it kills the whole thing.

Theres is only one LED in the switch and it gets power when fogs are on

So then what is the point of connecting the second wire to the harnes that controls dash light dimming????

EDIT:::

I just remembered, if I unplugged the wire at the steering column harness, and just plug the other one into the dimmer switch, when I turn on my lights, the fog light switch lights up at the same time! Fogs stay off. But of course, if I try to turn on the fogs, nothing happens. And like I said before if both are plugged in, they do nothing! Like its being shorted and the relay breaks the connection or something.

This is the part i don't get. I've tired hooking up every wire but nothing works... WHICH wire did you hook up? it is a wire cut from the relay that's not needed or is it the long long red wire with a loop by itself.... or is it the white wire cut from the relay?

Did you ground your white and black wire cut from the relay that's not needed?

I tried grounding both the white and black.... nothing.

I give up. *Jumps off a cliff*

If you can make a video wen you have time to explain it.. that'd be great.

okay the fourth photo from the bottom (^above ) shows the fog light harness coming from the lights
join that to the 2 wires in the fuse box under bonnet , make sure the fog lights are earthed , that is all that is reqired under the bonnet .
Throw every thing else away .

Lights should work , if your dash symbol is lighting up
if they are not check your fuses number 12 under dash
and check that you have power at pin 1 & 2 under bonnet
No power there means fuse blown , power there but still no lights means
your connections made under bonnet are not connect ( joined properly )

Ps don't jump you will live to reget it

So if the indicator isn't working fuse 12 is blown.

If pin 1 and pin2 has no power... where would the fuse for that be?

My horn isn't working. I will be forced to remove my front bumper tomorrow morning early.

If you can wait until then, I will gladly take a video of everything from start to finish.

Video's are so much easier to work with because you see everything. I will then explain everything in it. Quality may suck just a bit. Its just the video will be from my iPhone 3GS.

Quick test the RED wire that goes to the fog lights put it to the POSITIVE terminal of the Battery
Fog lights should come on . NO wrong wire or bulbs are blown .

Just watched your Video the RED wire from the Fog Lights (does it go to the fog lights)
Goes too the Pin 1 & 2 wires in the under bonnet relay box

You should only have the one wire that goes to the fog lights which
connects to pin 1 and 2
and the fog light earth wire to deal with under the bonnet .

The 3 wires you have togeather should be running to the switch
if you are useing the switch supplied which you appear to be
and the switch wireing is all done inside the car by removeing the cover around the steering colum .READ INSTRUCTIONS IN PDF .
Attached again .

the rest is rubbish ,

I just saw the video.. I really wish you asked for help first, or found my thread from before that included my install. You went too far and cut the wrong ends off for one, and the make matters worse, where are the two to one red wire? Which should have connected to the two pin slots in the relay box? Why is there only 1 red wire there in your video!!!!!!!! oh no0o0o0o0o0o

I will try what I can tomorrow, and from there you can cut/splice what you need to make it work!!!!!!!!!

Oh sorry, not to hi-jack the thread, but in the same relay box, does anyone know other then the fuse on top for the horn, which cable is it?(pin that is) Cause I have to figure out if the relay for the horn is bad, or the horn itself. Since the fuse is good.

Thanks.

is it possible to take a picture of what you mean? It doesn't say anything about the 3 wires in the instructions. the switch has it's own 3 wires which you hook up to ground and the d4 connector. Hmmmm...

It doesn't show well in the video but the red wire that connects to pin 1 and pin 2 in the fuse box is connected... i just cut off the white piece cuz i thought it needed to be spliced off.

Im going outside now to try and figure out my horn problem. If the problem is the relay, then I will not be taking apart my bumper. But if the relay is sending power, then I will be forced to remove the bumper to directly test the horn/most likely buy a new one, at which time I will also take a video of the entire install.

be back later!

I got it working... FINALLY!!!!

I reattached the old relay. Those 3 wires had to go somewhere....

So pretty much attach the long red single wire to ray's oem kit. (2 wires that go into pin 1 and pin 2 in the engine bay fuse box) With the old relay i attached the red wire coming out of it to the battery. It has a fuse along with it. Installed the other relay inside the car where the fuses are at. Install the inside switch via ground and red wire to the yellow d4 wire at pin #3.

Note: I didn't install the yellow wire (coming out of the switch inside the car) as it also didn't allow my fogs to turn on when they were spliced into both the yellow d4 wire or the dimmer wire. So I left the yellow wire from the switch inside the car hanging and taped off.

Now when I press the switch inside the car... the fog lights turn on! and off when I press it again. Now I just gotta mount it... but i'll take pics later tonight!

Only problem is the switch for the fog lights stays on... but I doubt that'll drain my battery.

Those instructions you gave me were good but it doesn't say anything about what to do with the wires once you remove the relay (the relay coming from the wires... not the relay you put inside)... nor does it say to do anything with it. To a complete noob like me ... it will confuse people. It doesn't say to tape it off or connect it anywhere. I'm just relieved I got it to work. Anyone have questions ... please feel free to ask.
