This is what I did
The first image shows the balast/two wires that come from the fog light kit. A white connector, and a black wire. The black wire gets grounded, since the cable is long enough, I grounded it right to the negative of the car battery.
Now, the same picture shows the red wire that splice sinto two, with an extra male end and copper fitting, and relay. The relay you already installed so I will skip that. The white end on the red wire is to be cut. And then with some bare wire, install the new copper fitting, and once thats installed, put it into the new male white connector. Now that new connector on the red cable can connect to the white end that comes from the fog light kit(the one being held by my hand). And the other end of the red wire(the two already fitted wires), these get plugged into the fuse box. No other cutting or splicing required. I literally removed the plastic cover on the side, and slipped up the two red wires along with the cars other wires, and connected it into the two slots you ALREADY used. Now, this is the confusing part. The big tangle mess of cables that also has a relay attached, I ended up throwing out most of it. Only the green connector which goes into the fog light switch is what you need, plus all the wire attached to it(trust me you need it all and some most likely) So I ended up cutting everything else off, including all other ends. I was left with the three wires and that plug, maybe 3 feet long. Once plugged into the fog light switch, the black I ASSUME is ground, the red gets plugged into the steering column harness as you already did, and the yellow I DON'T KNOW!! I maybe connected this wrong, but as long as the red is connected to the harness on top, and the yellow is NOT used, the fogs will work when the switch is pressed, the problem is the switch does not light up when the car lights are on unless it is pressed to turn on the fog lights. Maybe this was the way it was suppose to be? But now when its pressed 12volts goes down the yellow wire thats hanging. Good luck, but I so far have not received any other help myself as too why It does not light up when it should(hence why they said to connect the yellow wire to the dimmer switch, yet this causes the whole thing not to work) |
