Those dyno runs were as accurate a comparison as I could make. Each successive run reflected only one change at a time (first a manifold, and then a throttle body) with everything else exactly the same. +3/+1.5 is pretty good for a throttle body.

Especially when you consider the cost of the throttle body!

Yes.

And I just paid the going rate $125. That's pretty cheap power.

I know. But the cheap ones either look like they had the crap beat out of them or that they were flood salvage and I didn't want to take a chance. The one I got came like this with the dirt scraped off...

After stainless steel bead blasting it looks like this...

...and it performs flawlessly.

Hey, how about posting some more MI manifold pictures? Who else here has one?

(Sorry for jacking your thread, Garm. The 1ZZ should have its own thread. Is there a mod here who could move it?)

important question Garm, what is the weight difference between the stock manifold and the Micro Image one? thanks.

or just what is the weight of the new item? if you don't have a stock one laying around to weigh I'm sure somebody does.

Stock intake is 5.40 lbs.

A couple other shots I have from installing the manifold:

As you can see it's pretty snug toward the front of the car. I had to take off the hood latch to get it in there without scratching up the runners.

Mmm manifold porn.

Removing the hood latch is a good idea. You could also blue tape it thoroughly, or tape a shop rag over it.

It's made of aluminum. I'd guess it a few more pounds than stock. It's negligible.

Can't wait more then 22 hours eh?

All shipped, I can't weigh one until the next batch comes in. I could've sworn I weighed one, but I can't find the number.
It's a negligible difference, maybe 1-2 pounds more than stock.

another good question, how is the positioning of the throttle body as compared to the stock piece? the reason I ask is because I'm not running an SRI or CAI, just the stock box with a TRD filter in it and I'd prefer to keep the stock intake box....but if it has to go I'd like to know about it in advance.

If you have/want to swap out your stock box, I have a filter sitting in a closet going unused I'd like to get rid of...

As it is, I'd certainly encourage a more open intake (and ideally TB) as you can REALLY hear the engine, and it's amazing.

Our intake manifold works perfectly with your stock airbox. We were very careful to make this happen (one reason it took a couple extra prototypes). The throttle body isn't EXACTLY in stock position, but your stock flexible intake hose will make the adjustment just fine.
