I really like those big shiny aluminum tube Injen intakes.

I've been looking at this one for the truck as it's the only 4 cylinder one available. I think cold air is an overblown issue. My short ram intake has the same underhood engine/filter relationship and it runs great. When a vehicle is moving, ambient temperature air is blasting through the engine compartment.

This intake enjoys an advantage... if I start messing with the manifold, it's free to move around.

Still watching TBR's auction of a Golden Eagle manifold on ebay. Curious to see if there will be any bids.

It's up for a $399 reserve auction with a $699 buy it now.
The reserve is probably $698!

Sadly, this one is black. There's some dimples in it from rubbing against the bodywork, so I may just lop off the end and make it an SRI a la Tooter.

I still feel compelled to buy one of these things, but the wife isn't really interested in performance mods. Convincing her to put a $450 part under the hood where "nobody" would ever see it would be a really hard sell. Perhaps I could bill it as a cosmetic upgrade? It would have to be purple though...

^ Probably! Ooh... plus $35 shipping.

Injen intake for your truck would be $219.95 through us, by the way.
Part # INJ-PF2011

LOL. Let's take a badly designed WeaponR product and put more holes in it. Yeah, ok.

I am tempted to bid for that price just to see what happens.. I'd rather buy from Garm but just can't pull the trigger for full price, I'm stuck in the 80's when manifolds were cheap.....

I believe the above one is something similar to what weapon builds for xb
The eBay one isn't just similar, it IS a WeaponR intake. (says so in the text for the listing, too)
He's added NOS ports and a different flange to it.

I'll see you when the Injen intake comes in so you don't need to bother with reshipping it.

Picked up the intake from MI. When I removed the plastic wrapping, I saw that the tube had a manufacturing defect which had nothing to do with either shipping, or Jeff or Garm so I'm dealing directly with Injen.

The tubing was crumpled where the machine gripped it to swedge down the MAF sensor area. Why they went ahead and polished the dents and sent it out is beyond me. Adrian, at customer service is making it right by sending out a good tube that isn't crumpled.

Got the tooter et back from Bill at Ajax Welding...

Now I can mount it on the engine to locate the proper attitude of the throttle body base/bellmouth in relation to the hemisphere.

That manifold on ebay ended up selling for just $250 including shipping which is a pretty good deal for an alloy intake.

Put the tooter et mockup on the engine to position the throttle body.

Because the plenum is a hemisphere, the throttle body is free to be rotated and angled in any direction.

I also installed the stock air box as an alignment tool to precisely line up the body for a good fit.

Genius! I'm still curious about how the hemisphere will be mated to the manifold. Or did you cover that already?

This is the next step... punch a hole to insert the bellmouth.

Hey Cranky,

The plan is to get a round piece of 1/8th inch aluminum plate to fit the hemisphere, and cut out the rounded square shape of the runner retainer.

There will be two welding steps. First, weld the plate onto the manifold runner retainer, and then weld the hemisphere onto the plate. I'll also be inserting three aluminum tubes where the blue dots are for the hoses, so they'll also need to be welded into place.

Aah, that makes sense.

Curious-er and curious-er. This thing really is going to look alien when you're done!
