Burning smell with CAI

Heyy, I just bought a knockoff AEM CAI and installed it last night, the install went fine and I took it around the block a few times and everything seems great.

however when I really step on it and go through 1st 2nd 3rd, when I let off I get this burning smell that goes away after a minute or so, I was just wondering if this is something "normal" during the "?break in?" of the intake?

No hurry, as it seems to be fine otherwise, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if it is something I should be worried about.

Other than that, this is a great forum!

Thanks alot

Yo Alex,

I got the same model as you, CIA or any onduction should not give off a smell of burn, if that is the case it might be bit of trouble, you should check and see if any of the piping or wires are not touching parts that will get hot, water pipes, exhuast etc...

and keep an I on the CIA for dirt coming in.

THere Is a distinct Smell of CLuch burning, besides, if he goes all the way to
3 gear and smells it I find it hard to find it it is the clutch, maybe Wiring?

You should be able to tell by the type of smell..

yes, there is a distinct smell of clutch, and you can smoke the clutch in any gear, even 5th. but when he mentions a generic burning smell, it could be the parking brake being halfway on for all we can tell. maybe he left a piece of electrical tape in there or something and it fell on the exhaust manifold, who knows?

however, next time you smell it, get out and sniff around under the hood and see if you can find where it might be coming from.

now that you are talking about the smell, it did almost smell like plastic burning/melting. I will check the wiring asap, thanks alot.

didnt smell like tires or anything, I did spin the tires starting out, but I dont think that was it

Just wondering as an afterthought, should I run this intake in the snow?
I looked and there was a dusting of snow on the filter, I was wondering if this will hurt anything? If it does than I will swap back in the stock untill spring.

thanks

Look, Fine debree paricles, and I meen very fine dust, water and snow, what ever will not hurt anything at all,

But, if you have a decent filter it will not any of these things in your
T\B, usually I prefer Oiled filters as they tend to work properly.
