First Mod :D

Painted the valve cover to match the car
PreSol, sand it down ( below before pic ) for a nice surface for the paint to stick to, presol again, and paint.
Letting it dry now and putting on second coat in about 30 minutes.

Before and after, still have to remove the paint from the logo and vvti once I have the second coat on.
Actually 2nd Mod, but removing ugly plastic hub caps was the first, they just had to go until I get real rims.

Looks nice, hope you used engine block paint. ;)

Auh, why would you take the hub caps off. Cars look so bad without em on black steel.
It looks like you bought rims, somebody stole em and your driving on 4 spare tires.
Black steel should be left to 1992 civics only.

Back installed. Looks a little orange instead of red, looked really red inside. Giving it some time to dry :D
Also trying out the Red Braiding, now thats a PIA to keep from unraveling :S

Yah its Red Engine paint. I have never liked hub caps, and although yah they have the spare tire look, from a distance they look better. Besides it the theme I am going with Red and Black.

WOW is the focus bad on my camera, think my kids dropped it one to many times.

I painted mine along time ago too, blue to match. Looks nice, looked better when it was done. I dont spend enough time cleaning the engine bay. I used an etching primer, blue and then clear... what steps did you take? how many coats of each and what brand?

BTW, did you pop out the rubber grommets? they slide out very easy.

I want to do that but I don't know how to mask off the vvti and toyota, cause i want them to match the paint(original colour matches enough for now). I'm gonna match the colour to the blue sewn into the seats and doors. Gonna keep a stock theme. I've considered painting the exterior of the intake, minus the flanges, but not sure if I want THAT much blue.

Steps are above, so far just two coats.
Used Dupont Red Engine Paint, The Toyota and VVTI I will just use some paint remover on them and they will be just fine.

This was my first shot anyway, going to try and find something closer to the actual car color, but it still looks better then stock. Once the engine cools down a little more I will drain off the radiator, and put the red braiding on, should look pretty good, that matches really well.

This one I taped off so paint did not get into the IAT sensor and maf tube.

After working on a v8 LS1, this engine is so tiny. Its cute

Just take masking tape and tape over the lettering and emblem. then using a razor blade or sharp exacto/utility knife blade, trim the tape around the edges of the lettering.
Very simple.
I did my intake on the truck the same way.

Sorry but IMO it looks like crap.
you should have at least taped over the lettering and emblem or repainted it black after or something...

If you want tit to look 100x better use a sanding block and sand the lettering and emblem down so the black plastic shows through. start out with about 800 grit and finish with 1000 for smooth finish.

So tell me how you really feel. I didn't want to tape it I wanted to do it MY WAY. I still have to do several more coats.

RTF Thread, I said I was going to be using Paint Remover already on the lettering/logo. I just dropped it in to see how it looked.

In that case you need to chose to either chrome the engine bay or chose a complementary color. yellow, red, blue, chrome etc...

yo man, make up your own mind... black will go with pretty much everything, whats your second favorite color - paint it that. Then buy that color lights and put the lights in your car. Then get underbody lights... then start rocking the carbon fiber - shit this is exactly what happpened to my scion (way to carried away).
