satellite radio with factory h/u

I want to keep the factory headunit. I'm looking to avoid the high price of having the dealer do the install. And I DO NOT want to put in a portable receiver. What I have found is this.

Will this work? Is there anything else I need? I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what all I need so I can install on the cheap.

I don't think it will. It says that the HU must have a Sat button (which ours does not) and all of the vehicles listed use different HU's than ours.

Actually, I have the installation manual for the XM Satellite Radio kit for the 09+ Sedan and LB and it lists that same part number (86180-0W031) as being the included tuner. The other part necessary is the mounting kit (PT546-52096), which includes the cable, brackets, and the antenna.

You can buy a factory Scion H/U with SAT capability very cheap, and its a direct bolt-in/plug-n-play setup. You do have to swap some wires to make the AUX jack work. Also, I think the 09 Yaris comes w/ a SAT button?? If so, find someone who's adding a fancy stereo and buy the original h/u from them.

I bought my Sirius car kit (receiver, antenna, and dock) for $30 and use it with my factory head unit.
It has a built in FM transmitter or you can plug it in to the AUX jack.

Last I checked, my headunit does have a Satellite button on it. See the attached picture.

As far as the website not listing our car, well, I've found that a lot of sites do not recognize that the Yaris even exists.

So I'm trying to decipher as to what you say I need... Do I need this part and another? Or just the other?

I've done both the FM transmitter and the AUX jack connection route. Again, I repeat, I am trying to avoid that clutter of having way too many extra things around my dash, as well as the mass of visible wires, and the constant need for the use of the only power outlet in my car for the portable satellite radio units.

EDIT: I apologize if I come off sounding like I am attacking someone, it's been a long day, I'm frustrated, and I still have way to much to get done tonight.

Mine has that as well (I just never noticed it)! As far as what you need, both the tuner and the "mounting kit" are required. The place you linked above doesn't show the kit, but doing a quick google brought up this one:

Attached is the complete installation guide so you can see what's involved in installing it.

Agreed. The handy thing with the document is that it confirms that it can be done and confirms the part numbers that you need.

True. I wonder if there is anything stated somewhere for putting in Sirius rather than XM? I'm still up in the air as to which. And I think I found what is needed, and would be cheaper... But I'm prolly wrong.

this and this

Yaris isn't listed in the compatibility list for the TOY-SC1.

Toyota has a Sirius option for Yaris: Tuner Assy: PT545-00080 and Mounting Kit: PT545-52091
