The next step?

After tires, alignment, rear sway bar and springs, what's the next best bang for buck mods or parts out there for our cars? This is on a daily driven Autox car.

So you want to stay in your class. right? Then look to see what you can actually change. If it is SCCA they are crazy restrictive.

I am STF I know how to find what I can do in class, I am asking what is the next best modification regardless of rule classifications that will actually help.

I know there is lots of bracing I can do but is there anything else more worth my money?

Front strut bar seems pointless with stock strut tops and how close the firewall is. Front sway bar would likely induce understeer I would think.( correct me if I'm wrong)
Rear tower bar I really can't see doing anything because of our rear suspension design and it would ruin the rear cargo area for how little it does.

Under bracing is an option though there is a bit to choose from.

All of the braces just add weight, and the front bar is only going to increase inside wheel spin.

Its not cheap, but the next big gain will be ECU, there is a lot of power left beyond the stock tune.

Yea? I can get away with a piggyback in my class (again not really concerned but it's a bonus) ,would that be worth while? I might have access to a good deal.

The VVTi is very receptive to a tune, you can pick up a good bit of TQ, I think the ECU is worth more power than all of the other off the shelf bolt-ons combined.

I agree ecu tune is better but remember to beef up cooling system and spark plugs,on a seperate note have you changed any of your suspension bushings , i find changing the one on the upper stut mount helps alot with steering feel and understeer,trd japan sells them 7000 yen ($70.00).the factory ones are meant for comfort (really soft)

LSD would be the biggest game-changer at autoX IMO. As much as I want one, I just can't justify the cost for the my Yaris.

I'm pretty naive to ECU tuning, frankly, but would love to learn more about it with regards to the Yaris. Any suggestions on who/where to go for a tune?

Personally, this would be a good option for me. I've bolted on just about everything possible to the engine, am waaay outside of any conflicting warranty stuff, so this might be a good way to free up some more oomph.

You need to add a supplemental ECU that is programmable first, the Toyota ECU is so far still unhacked. Depending on the class you are building for you can go full standalone, or have a plug and play setup built. The AEM EMS 2 will give you control of the VVTi.
