Hehe, that's because the front hub bearing is a cartridge bearing that is independent of the hub assembly. You simply jack the car, take the front wheel off, remove the spindle nut (big splined nut in the middle), remove the caliper mounting bracket, remove rotor, then you can pull out the front hub assembly and punch the old bearing out. Insert new one, then slide the hub back on, slide rotor on, reinstall caliper bracket, tighten spindle nut, put wheel back on, etc
There's a little more fine details to it, that you'll get from reading the shop manual, but that's a good overview. More work, but lots cheaper since you're only changing a cartridge bearing and not a complete hub assembly. Make sure you have the proper torque wrenches, press tools and lubricants for a job well done. Last thing you want is to over tighten some bolts, crook the bearing or assemble dry threads. Brake cleaner for the rotor after you've put it back would help too because you'll most likely put your dirty hands, gloves or rags on the braking surface, as well as possibly overspray lubricant and WD-40 on it. If you don't have the shop manual, google it or I'll try to post the relevant pages here. |

Thank you soooo much! So do I need a bearing press to do this or no? And this is the type bearing I need? shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/national-multi-purpose-bearing-510094/99983180-P?navigationPath=L1*14925%7CL2*15056%7CL3*164

Here's the manual. I've also extracted the pages that specifically outlined the front bearing change in a separate document.
I wouldn't be able to tell you which bearing you need, or if you could do without all the tools or disassembly levels the manuals show, I haven't looked into it yet. |

You just buy the front bearing and press it into the hub. I can't remember where the abs signal is read from but it is not a tone ring on the cv axle.
