I am interested in obtaining an oil filter removal tool for my wifes Yaris. 2011 model, the 'new' Yaris. 1.33 petrol engine. (1NR-FE). I understand these are only obtainable from the USA. Could anyone tell me the manufacturer and the part number please? An indication of price would also be useful! If anyone knows of a supplier in the UK then that would be most helpful. Thankyou.

You have a few options:

You can either go with a 64mm x 14 flats socket type tool:

Assenmacher Specialty Tools TOY 640 (I believe readily available in Europe)

CTA A265 (sold by some Toyota parts stores here in the US)

or a type which catches the fingers on the oil filter housing:

Get the Assenmacher toy-640. <<<I highly recommend it. It should be right around $20 USD. It works for both the plastic and aluminum toyota cartridge housings. you need a 24mm socket/wrench on the end of it, but it does the job. It's aluminum, but quality made.

2 things, once the cartridge housing has mated fully with the engine side, stop tightening. it doesn't need to be super tight, just flushed and maybe tapped once. check with CTScott for the appropriate torque specification if you wish.

Second thing, remember to remove the tool once you finish using it, it blends into the engine being dull grey aluminum and all lol. Many a lube tech at my job has had to purchase more than one of these tools.

Thankyou for your help Shroomster. The TOY 640 is indeed the one I have bought. But, only $6 around £4 so very pleased. I have checked with C.T. Scott and the torque is 40 Nm which seems a lot to me however, I will go with that.

The Scion Xd has that plastic oil filter cover too. Not a big fan of it....

One of the best Oil Filter removal tools is from Channellock.
You can remove any oil filter.

Fine for can type filters. The new Yaris does not have a can type filter as C.T. Scott explained.
