Are you going to Dyno it with the 1ZZ throttle body? That is the throttle body that this intake was designed for, so I would bet you would see some gains in hp and torque. If you do see gains, I would bet that you could sell a lot more of those manifolds.

![]() Making the tooter fit both throttle bodies without any extra parts was an afterthought so that I wouldn't have to stock 2 adaptors. In fact it actually fits three, the stock 51mm three bolt cable controlled throttle body. I still think that the results will be similar as these back to back runs (stock:red tooter:blue) done on the same day... ![]() the stock engine is only capable of taking in so much air/fuel. I'm sorry if I came off harsh at all in my last post, I've enjoyed this thread and your tinkering that has led you to where you are. It's a good looking manifold, and it was designed for a larger throttle body than that which you are using, and it's an easy swap to the larger 1ZZ. You have to at least try :) I think there are many others who are following the thread that are also very interested. I think with the change will come more tinkering, and more content too. I appreciate the informative posts. |

![]() No offense taken. I just got this 1ZZ 0D030 throttle body off ebay today... ...and will be running it soon. I read through the whole 1ZZ thread, and it looks like a real pain in the ass to get working half way decently with all the floating idles, wildly racing rpms, stripped screws, and repeated check engine lights. Hopefully, I can avoid some of the pitfalls knowing the experiences others have gone through. I at least have some advantages over trying to make it work with the plastic stock manifold. The Corolla manifold was originally engineered for a 1.8 throttle body, and the tooter adaptor I designed will fit it perfectly. I'll let you know exactly how all this shakes out.

No dude, THANK YOU!!! I am so happy you got it running good finally, and that there seems to be a noticeable difference. Looking at the two throttle bodies side by side, you would think there would have to be. The stock TB is so small!
Anyways, this has been a great thread to follow, and I know I can speak for the entire community when I say thanks for posting so often and clearly about the issues and wins you have been having. These threads help us all out. Again, congrats, and I can't wait to see what this sucker does on the dyno. Please post a vid with audio! I bet she screams! |

![]() From this experience I'm pretty certain that the chips don't even need to be swapped. The butterfly just needs to close farther so that the ECU can find the right idle. Because when I ran both chips, both had the same symptoms. Reducing the idle speed alone is what resolved all of the issues. So in the future... If anyone wants to install a part number 030 Corolla 1ZZ throttle body on their 1NZ engine, don't mess with the chips, and simply turn the idle down by backing out the little idle adjustment screw counterclockwise one turn using a 5/64th inch hex key... and everything should work just fine. I did quite a bit of driving today on the freeway and in traffic with shopping and running errands, and I'm so thoroughly pleased with how well the engine responds with the bigger throttle body. It behaves like a completely different car!
