New exhaust in...
Well, switched mufflers and I am using a 2.5" inlet/outlet Borla Performance Turbo Muffler(stainless steel), 2.5" straight cut stainless tip, 2.5" cat-back mandrel bent stainles pipe fabbed up at a local shop, and removed the resonater. Still very quiet, very deep tone, very far from ricey, and it doesnt have the lawnmower sound or the 4" tip. I will get pictures as soon as the weather permits, raining like crazy here, shame I dont have anything to capture the sound with.
P.S. didn't really notice any horsepower increase...I figure a major power adder is needed for that. I am working on the exhaust though for if/when someone comes out with a roots type supercharger for these cars.

2.5 is a bit big I would think. Probably keeps the sound right where it needs to be, non-existent, but I'd bet you are actually losing power with that much flow...

I agree, I use 2.25 / 2.5 on mild small block chev's and fords.
Ive heard some who have gone too large and get too much scavenging and windup melting out cats and headers. Please update everyone if you have any problems.

havent heard about larger cat back exhaust melting cats before...generally larger pipe leads to less heat, but i am not a engineer. and yes, on a under 500 hp small block 2.5 per side on the dual exhaust is plenty. I didnt loose any noticable HP, however, didnt gain any noticable power either.
however, my exhaust is set up for when i get a header, high flow cat, header back exhaust and a supercharger... I will keep you all updated on if i have any problems. p.s. if you arent planning on any major power adders stock pipe would be more than adequate.

It will still be too much IMO. What will the supercharger put you up to, 135hp? And you are at a flow level to support 250+ hp...

ditto wid jdium..
2.25 would be optimal if u would go s/c. 2.5's are better for turbos. |
