Yep. If you leave plugs in place way past the recommended change interval till they're totally shot, what will eventually happen is that a Check Engine Light will come on with a code for random misfiring. No BFD.

Or even worse. I can remember when I was in college and working closing shift at Subway. Closed up the restaurant at 0200 and my coworker headed out while I took care of the alarm and cashout. This was back in 1995 when cell phones for all intensive purposes were still bag phones and expensive. I come out to my parent's 86 Corolla with close to 200k miles on it and turn the key...................fires then, POOF! Long story short, original spark plugs and one of them had the porcelain disintegrate. Tried to to call the 'rents on the house phone, but of course they slept through it. I walked the 14 miles home.
