Congo-Otto: Many thanks for your advice and your polite replies. I intend to follow your advice in regard to the hand brake, however, I’m more uncertain about your second advice since I think that only an authorized garage with the right manals and tools should repair brakes. By the way, my Yaris has disc brakes :)

My Yaris was 3 years old when I bought it and it’s now 4 years. Even though my Yaris have full service at an authorized garage it still ended up in this state.

I know that I've entered enthusiasts’ forum and have to take care :) However, in comparison, my 21 years old Colt didn’t have full service but only got new engine oil and oil filter each year that I had to change myself. Nevertheless it never got howling or rusty brakes...
